I should be writing. I should be doing dishes. I should be folding laundry. Instead, I decided to doodle this.

New Painting – James Keziah Delaney (Tom Hardy) from Taboo
Over the holidays I picked up a bunch of great new photoshop brushes from Kyle T. Webster (https://www.kylebrush.com/) and I've only just now got to use them. I just finished my latest book and it's sitting with beta readers so I had time to paint :)
Here's James Delaney from Taboo, my current favourite show. If you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes dark and violent historical fiction.
You see me as I am. All of those that I gather are damned. It's just part of a company policy of mine.
—James Keziah Delaney
Today I draw, tomorrow I write
It's been a long time since I did a portrait, so I decided to let the books I'm writing bounce around in my skull some more in favour of pulling out the ol' Wacom tablet (I desperately need a new one). Since I just finished rewatching The Night Manager for the third time, I figured Hiddleston would make a good model. :)
Tomorrow, I write.
Writing and Drawing
I'm taking a little break from writing today. I've only written about 600 words of the 1000 that I normally like to get out in a day but eh, my mind is elsewhere and I'm not going to sweat it. I'm still new to this digital portrait painting... so many brushes to choose from! I have no idea how to use half of them and end up using the same three over and over. I should ask someone else who does digital painting what brushes they like to use.
The giveaway contest for Caged ends in less than 12 hours! So exciting. Tomorrow is the launch of the paperback edition - I know some people will be very happy about that.
Author and… Artist
I've been writing "Author & Artist" everywhere but I realized just earlier that I haven't actually showed you any of my art.
I consider myself primarily a portrait painter. That's what I've been doing since I was old enough to hold a brush - paint people. However, I've been doing far more graphic design work than actual painting in the past few years. Most of the stuff I do is pretty mainstream corporate-type logos, but I also do digital portraits. The cover for Caged is my own design.
Lately, however, I dusted off the old Wacom tablet and started doing illustrations for my writing, and drawing a lot of NSFW stuff in general.
